These terms govern your use of timecalculator.ca and every tool on it. They say three things: the site is free, the calculators are arithmetic tools rather than professional advice, and you are responsible for checking a result before acting on it.
That is not unusual for a free utility site, but it matters more here, because these pages produce numbers that end up on timesheets and invoices. A calculator can be correct and still give a figure that is wrong for your situation, because it does not know your contract or your rounding policy.
Accepting these terms
Using the site means accepting what follows.
By accessing timecalculator.ca or using any calculator on it, you agree to these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Acceptance is a condition of the free access we offer, and these terms apply alongside the privacy policy. If you use the site for an organisation, you confirm you may accept them for it.
Acceptable use
Use the tools as intended.
You may use the calculators freely for personal, educational and commercial purposes, and you may link to any page or screenshot a result. None of that needs permission.
You agree not to:
- use the site unlawfully or in breach of any applicable regulation;
- attempt unauthorised access to the site or its hosting infrastructure;
- interfere with normal operation by overloading it, scraping it at a rate that degrades service, or introducing malicious code;
- copy the content or design to publish a similar site, or republish substantial portions of the written material as your own;
- remove or alter any attribution or notice on the site;
- present results from the site as produced or endorsed by someone else.
We may restrict access where use threatens the site's availability or security.

The calculators and written material here are provided for general information and educational use. They do not constitute legal, payroll, tax, employment, accounting, medical or financial advice, and using them creates no professional relationship.
The tools know nothing of your circumstances. The Hours Calculator does not know whether your break was paid, the Time Card Calculator does not know your contract's overtime threshold, and the Date Calculator does not know whether a notice period counts the first day. Those answers come from your agreement, your local law or a professional.

We take accuracy seriously. Check anyway.
Considerable care goes into the arithmetic here. Formulas are stated openly, working is shown step by step, and table figures are checked before publication. Even so, no calculator is guaranteed free of error, or knows whether its inputs suit your situation.
Results should be independently verified before they are used for payroll, legal, medical or financial decisions. Check the figure against another method, an official source or a qualified person before it is submitted, paid or filed. Where a result depends on a variable rule, confirm the one that applies to you.

Daylight saving and time zone information comes from the database built into your browser, which this site does not control. A span crossing a daylight saving transition may differ from wall clock time by an hour.

The site and its calculators are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express, implied or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that a result will suit your purposes. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
You use the site at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or any result it produces, whether the claim is in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise.

Intellectual property
The words and code are ours. The mathematics belongs to everyone.
The written content, design, graphics, tables and code are owned by the operator of Time Calculator or its licensors and protected by copyright. You may view the site, print pages for your own use and share links freely.
You may not republish substantial portions of the written material, reproduce the design, or present the content as your own work without written permission. Short quotations linking back to the source page need no permission.
Nothing here claims ownership of the arithmetic: conversion factors, the base 60 carry and elapsed time formulas are common knowledge, set out so anyone can use them. The site name and logo may not be used to suggest endorsement.
Links to third party sites
A link is not an endorsement.
Pages here may link to external websites, for example an authoritative source for a rule we describe. Those sites are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or handling of your information.
Once you follow a link away from timecalculator.ca, these terms and our privacy policy stop applying and the other site's take over.
Changes to these terms, and governing law
Revisions are dated. The operator sets the governing law line.
We may revise these terms, for example to reflect a change in the site or in the law. The current version is always the one on this page, and the last updated date in the byline changes with the substance. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept it.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continue in full effect and that provision applies as far as the law permits. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
